One of the best things to happen to Ugandan artistic industry is Design Kingdom. It’s a movement, a community, a revolution. It’s an effort by young Ugandan artists that want to see excellence in all Ugandan creativity. It’s a movement for Ugandans and by Ugandans. It’s a voice for Ugandan designers.

Every week, a Ugandan artist is hosted. I had the privilege of being the guest artist this week. You can check out the interview by clicking here.

Welcome to the Design Kingdom.

Hello world!

Hi there,

My name is Edward Matovu and I’m a 30 year old Ugandan Graphics Designer and Illustrator. Married with a baby on the way, I am forever grateful to God that he made me an artist.

studioM is an online journal about my artworks.

I’ve been working in the field of Graphics Design since the year 2000. I finished my under graduate studies at the Margaret Trowell’s School of Industrial & Fine Arts in Makere University. The subjects I learned included History of Art, Typography, Advertising Design, Anatomy, Portraiture, Printmaking and Illustration (my major).

Over the years I’ve worked as a Graphic Designer for print and web media. I am currently working towards exploring video and film.  My best friends when it comes to tools are Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. I am currently getting acquainted with Flash, AfterEffects, Premiere and FinalCut Pro. I need your prayers.

Enjoy yourself and I hope to hear from you soon.
